Henderson , JackHammers outlast T-Bones 3-2

KANSAS CITY - Will Henderson scored all three runs for Joliet as the JackHammers (24-41, 8-9) downed the T-Bones (30-34, 8-10) in the second game of a three game set by a 3-2 count Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Henderson powered the Joliet offense all night. With two runs already under his belt, Henderson clubbed his second homer of the night to give the JackHammers a 3-2 edge going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Joliet's pitching staff took control of the game from that point on, retiring eight straight T-Bones, four of which came on strikeouts, before Darryl Lawhorn and Zach Norman each singled to centerfield. A walk by Craig Hurba, who was pinch hitting for James Beever, loaded the bases, but Chad Sosebee's strikeout ended the T-Bones eighth inning threat. Amad Stephens retired the top of the T-Bones lineup in order in the ninth inning to seal the deal for the JackHammers.
The win was Joliet's second straight over the T-Bones after snapping a five-game losing streak Monday with a 4-3 victory.
Kansas City went straight to work in their half of the opening frame. After sending a single to centerfield, J.D. Foust scored from third on a single to center by Charles Peterson, giving the T-Bones an early 1-0 advantage.
Joliet answered back in the second, combining two hits with a wild pitch and a passed ball to plate a game-tying run, sending the T-Bones to the plate in the middle of a 1-1 contest.
Kansas City returned the favor in the third, capitalizing on a throwing error from third base which allowed Peterson to reach safely, and also allowed Doug Dreher to score. After three complete, the T-Bones nursed a 2-1 lead, but Joliet had yet another answer. This time the JackHammers turned to the long ball as a solo home run by Will Henderson tied the game at two runs a piece.
T-Bones reliever Logan McElwain picked up the loss for the T-Bones, dropping his record to 0-2 on the season. McElwain pitched two innings in relief of starter Larry Robles, giving up one hit, one earned run, two walks, and notching one strikeout.
The T-Bones will try to avoid the sweep as they conclude their series with Joliet Wednesday night. RHP Hank Woodman (3-2, 7.27) will take the mound for Kansas City, while the JackHammers will counter with RHP Kevin Cheppenko (3-4, 3.40). Woodman's first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
