New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Trenton, NJ)-Adeiny Hechavarria and Mike McDade each had two hits, including a home run on Friday night, but the Fisher Cats dropped a 7-6 decision in Trenton in the opener of a weekend series at Waterfront Park.
The Fisher Cats (35-19) jumped ahead 5-0 early in the ball game. Darin Mastroianni doubled in the top of the first and Hechavarria homered for a 2-0 lead. In the third inning, Mastroianni doubled again and scored a triple by Hechavarria. McDade homered to make it 5-0.
Trenton (33-21) used a season-high seventeen hits to earn the come-from-behind win. They put together five singles in the bottom of the third inning off New Hampshire starter Zach Stewart to make it 5-3. Cody Johnson, Jose Pirela and DeAngelo Mack each rapped RBI singles.
Mack's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning make it 5-4 and Jose Gil smacked an RBI double in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.
After the Fisher Cats scored a run on a wild pitch to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh, the Thunder would grab their first lead of the game in the bottom half of the inning. Ray Kruml would single to shallow left-centerfield to tie the score, and Corban Joseph doubled to left field to give Trenton a 7-6 lead
That first and only Trenton lead would hold steady as Tim Norton nabbed his fifth save of the season, shutting down the Fisher Cats in the ninth to win the game for Shaeffer Hall (5-3).
Stewart worked five innings, allowing four runs on eleven hits. He walked one and struck out five Trenton batters. B. J. LaMura (3-4) took the loss in relief.
