New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - While the New Britain Rock Cats will be playing on the road this Saturday night, members of the Eastern League club's front office will still be cheering in Connecticut as one of their own - 25-year-old Eric Fritz - will be one of eight persons formally inducted into the Rocky Hill Athletic Hall of Fame at 7:00 PM. The Induction Dinner and accompanying merriment will take place on Saturday evening at the Marriott Hotel in Rocky Hill.

The still trim and athletic-looking Fritz was a proud member of the Rocky Hill High School Football and Baseball Teams from 2000-2004. During those halcyon days, the talented young competitor was regarded as the "Kid with the Golden Arm": While playing Quarterback on the football field, his mark for Total Passing Yardage (3,254) still stands as RHHS's all-time best; in the Spring, the big righty shifted over to the Baseball diamond where he was an All-State selection for his exceptional work off the Rocky Hill mound. Once his prep career at Rocky Hill was completed, Eric remained with baseball - his favorite sport - for an additional four years as a star Pitcher for the Temple University Owls in Philadelphia.

With his love of baseball unabated - and to the Rock Cats good fortune - Eric joined the New Britain Baseball Club shortly after graduating from Temple in 2008. He has served for the past two years as Director of Stadium Operations, an essential, largely behind-the-scenes role that requires long hours, attention to detail, the ability to work well with others and multi-task from dawn until well after dusk. It's a demanding role - creating the environment for all the fun and excitement that happen in and around New Britain Stadium - and Eric does it extremely well.

Bill Dowling, CEO of the Rock Cats, said, "We are all thrilled that Eric is about to be inducted into his hometown Athletic Hall of Fame. While we didn't know him as a teenager, it's pretty easy to imagine this bright, hard-working young man serving as the town's athletic star and, as importantly, positive role model. Eric is smart and very dedicated to all that he does. We are delighted that he is being honored in this way - and very proud that we can claim him as one of our own".
