
Bertram Homer Sends 'Wolves to Walkoff Win

The SeaWolves won their third straight game in dramatic fashion on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park with a walkoff home run in extra innings.
The SeaWolves struck first in the bottom of the second against Harrisburg starter Erik Davis. Michael Bertram, Audy Ciriaco and Bryan Holaday all singled to load the bases with no outs. With one out, Jamie Johnson grounded out to first, Bertram scored for a 1-0 Erie lead. Brandon Douglas followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0 Erie.
In the sixth, Francisco Martinez led off with an opposite field double. He advanced to third on a Ciriaco single. With Bryan Holaday hitting, Martinez scored on a wild pitch making it 4-0 âWolves.
The Senators climbed back into the game against Erie starter Jacob Turner in the seventh. Tyler Moore led off and doubled and Derek Norris followed with his first of two home runs to make it a 4-2 game
In the eighth, the Senators took their first lead of the game, with one out, Turner walked Josh Johnson and was lifted in favor of Zach Simons. Simons served up a two-run home run to Tyler Moore, tying the game at 4-4. Norris followed with his second home run making it 5-4 in favor of the Sens.
The Harrisburg lead was short lived as the SeaWolves struck right back in the bottom of the eighth. Ciriaco connected on a one-out double for his third hit of the game nad he scored on a Bryan Holaday double, tying the game at 5-5.
The game would go into extra innings and in the top of the 10th, Chance Ruffin, who tossed a perfect ninth, would continue to his strong night striking out a pair and working his second perfect frame.
Michael Bertram ended the night quickly in the bottom of the 10th as he slammed a walkoff home run to straight away center, giving Erie a 6-5 win. It was the third home run for Bertram this season and his second in as many days. It was Erie's ninth win in the last at-bat of the season.
Ruffin (3-3) picked up the win throwing two hitless innings with four strikeouts.
Turner took the no-decision allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings.
