Abbotsford Heat News Release
It's the week before Christmas and all thru the North,
There are points to be had and good efforts need be put forth.
The Abbotsford Heat is on the road for four games this week,
And four big efforts are what Head Coach Jim Playfair seeks.
We start out in goal where the Heat has Leland Irving,
He had three wins last week, of which he was most deserving.
This week on the road, Irv will look for one more
As four wins on the road would be a great Christmas score!
With Jim, Troy and Steve, on the bench they are scheming,
If we can get more goals on the power play, we'd be dreaming!
3 for 23 was the total last week on the PP,
A few goals more is what we'd all like to see!
Jim throws open the gates and you can hear the skates clatter,
The players head out to the ice and they scatter.
They cover the ice, they all try to score
If they can do it once, surely they will do it some more.
Every 40 seconds or so, Jimmy calls out their names,
And they all get excited, they want in the game!
`On Seabrook, On Brodie, On Meyers on Breen,
Make plays out there that the other team hasn't seen!'
`On Bouma, On Nemisz, On Bancks and On Cunning,
Make the other teams nervous, and get them all running!'
Jim soon calls all their names, and a rhythm develops
And then Jim realizes, he can now call on Matt Pelech!
As injured as any, this team has a bunch
Of players getting healthy, Jimmy has a hunch.
`If we get everyone back, it would make me just burst,
I know if we did, we could make a run for first!'
This week on the road, the Heat start in Rochester,
The Americans are upset, and a wound may still fester.
You see last spring, the Heat knocked out the Amerks in seven,
They will want a win over Abbotsford in front of their brethren.
Then onto Wilkes-Barre the Heat will then turn,
For a pair against the baby Penguins, the Heat hopes to burn.
They finish in Glens Falls, against a team called the Phantoms,
If the Heat can get four wins, it would sure look quite handsome!
Meanwhile, back in Abby, the Heat office is quite busy,
The ticket staff, quite frankly, is in quite a tizzy.
Everyone, on the phones, is taking ticket orders,
From fans everywhere, even over the border!
And at the office in the centre of it all
Is Heat President Tom Mauthe, standing quite tall,
Along with VP Justin McIntyre, they remain quite calm
Justin says `Call 1-877-452-HEAT, or visit www.abbotsfordheat.com `
While the Heat is away this week, you don't have to worry,
Dave Sheldon will be on the radio, telling the story.
Tune into Country 107.1 this week and you can listen,
To all of the road games that otherwise you would be missing!
You can hear Dave like Jim, call out all the names,
But I guarantee you this; they will not sound the same!
Dave gets excited, you know that by now
When the refs miss a call, Dave almost has a cow!
He calls them all out, sometimes at a breakneck pace,
Sometimes it sounds like Dave is calling a race!
But the outcome will certainly not be a bore,
When Dave yells out, `He shootsHe Scorrres!'
