Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will battle against four West Division foes this week with match-ups versus the Houston Aeros (AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild), Oklahoma City Barons (AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers), Texas Stars, (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) and the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes). Houston will make a stop in Hamilton on Tuesday, December 14th at 7:00 p.m. for the 'Dogs final home game at Copps Coliseum before Christmas. The Bulldogs will then hit the road for the first three games of a five-game road trip beginning in Oklahoma City to take on the Barons on Friday, December 17th at 7:05 p.m. The following night Hamilton faces off against the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center for a tilt beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 18th. The 'Dogs will play their final game of the week against the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center on Sunday, December 19th at 5:30 p.m.

Hamilton battled two North Division rivals last week starting with the Rochester Americans on Wednesday, December 8th. Rochester's A.J. Jenks opened the scoring for the Amerks giving them a 1-0 lead. The 'Dogs quickly fought back with three consecutive goals coming from Aaron Palushaj, Max Pacioretty and Mathieu Carle. Hamilton led the game 3-1 before Rochester scored three goals just three minutes after Hamilton took the 3-1 advantage. Rochester's Brady Calla, Michael Duco and David Marshall scored handing the Amerks a 4-3 lead, one which they would not relinquish. Hamilton took-on the Americans in a rematch on Friday, December 10th. Aaron Palushaj, and Andrew Conboy gave the 'Dogs a 2-0 edge in the second frame but Rochester battled back to tie Hamilton at two before the period ended. The third period held both teams off the score sheet and forced overtime where Max Pacioretty potted the game winning goal giving the 'Dogs a 3-2 win over the Americans. The Bulldogs returned to Copps Coliseum to host the Toronto Marlies on Sunday, December 12th. The game was broadcasted nationally on CBC. Olivier Fortier started the scoring in the first giving the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead. The Marlies quickly responded with a goal by Joey Crabb which tied the game at one heading into the second period. Hamilton potted the next four goals of the game with Andrew Conboy and Max Pacioretty providing one each, and Olivier Fortier netting another two for his first professional career hat trick. Hamilton went on to defeat the Marlies by a score of 5-1.
