
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Eric Tangradi Named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Eric Tangradi has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 12, 2010. Tangradi scored five goals and added two assists for seven points in three games for the league-leading Penguins.
Tangradi had a hand in seven of the Penguins' 11 goals scored during the week, beginning with Wednesday's 5-1 win over Toronto in which he recorded his first career hat trick plus an assist for a career-best four points on the night. Tangradi tallied another assist on Friday night in Norfolk, then scored twice in the back end of the home-and-home set with the Admirals on Saturday.
In recognition of his achievement, Tangradi will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Penguins home game.
A second-year pro, Tangradi has notched 10 goals and five assists for 15 points in 21 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season and has also made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh, registering one goal and one assist in nine NHL contests. Tangradi, who put up 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) as a rookie last year, is a Philadelphia, Pa., native and was a second-round draft choice (42nd overall) by Anaheim in 2007. He was acquired by Pittsburgh as part of the Chris Kunitz-for-Ryan Whitney trade on Feb. 26, 2009.
