LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (28-35) presented by Pearson, avoided the sweep and beat the Windy City ThunderBolts (24-38), 3-2.
Tuesday night's contest was a pitcher's duel. Jake Fisher was dominate in his start for the ThunderBolts.
Fisher used his curveball countless times and struck out eight Aviators throughout the night.
Kenny Bryant hit a RBI single that scored a run and gave the Aviators the early 1-0 lead.
Kyle Hassna was impressive in his start for the Aviators. He pitched eight strong innings, allowing just two hits and one run that was unearned.
The ThunderBolts pushed a run across in the sixth, but the Aviators retook the lead in the seventh.
Tyger Pederson hit a RBI single that scored Ryan Breen from second, and gave the Aviators the 2-1 advantage.
Dusty Robinson hit a RBI double in the ninth that scored Edgar Corcino, and pushed the Aviators lead to 3-1.
However, the Thunderbolts weren't going away quietly. After yet another Aviators error, the Bolts were able to push a run across, Gerardo Sanchez struck out the final batter of the night to pick up his 15th save of the year and the Aviators win, 3-2.
