HARTFORD, Conn. - Two runs in the eighth inning lifted the Hartford Yard Goats to a last at bat win over the Altoona Curve, 7-6, on Friday at Dunkin' Donuts Park.

The first half of the game featured three lead changes and one tie thanks to five home runs before the Curve (36-33, 1-1) settled into a 6-5 advantage in the top of the fifth. No more runs scored until a two-out, two-run double down the right field line by the Yard Goats' (38-32, 1-2) Vance Vizcaino in the bottom of eighth inning against Curve reliever Joel Cesar (Loss, 1-2).

Bligh Madris and Mitchell Tolman each hit their fourth homers of the season to either break a tie or even the score. Madris knocked in three runs total with a two-out single to finish a two-run first for the Curve and snapped a 2-2 tie in the third with a towering, two-run homer into the right field seats. Tolman set the stage for the two-run opening frame with a single and came in on a groundout by Jared Oliva before he lined a lead-off, solo homer of the left field wall to erase a 5-4 deficit in the fifth.

Robbie Glendinning put Altoona on top with an RBI double off the right field wall three batters after Tolman's game-tying homer, but the final 14 Curve hitters were retired in order through the end of the contest. Hartford relievers Scott Griggs, Mitch Horacek (Win, 1-0) and Logan Cozart (Save, 5) sat down every batter they faced over the final four frames.

Hartford hit three solo homers in each of the first three innings off Curve starter Domingo Robles with two-out blasts from Alan Trejo and Bret Boswell in the first and second before Vizcaino led off the third with the first of his three key RBIs. Robles sat down the first two batters in the fourth before a walk, single and stolen base set up a, go-ahead two-run double down the right field line by Yard Goats reliever Jordan Foley. Robles lasted four innings and matched a season-high five runs allowed.

Yeudy Garcia fired three scoreless innings out of the Altoona bullpen with four strikeouts, including three punch outs in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out to preserve a 6-5 lead at the time.

Chris Sharpe went 2-for-4 for the Curve with a double and scored twice during his first two at bats in his Double-A debut.

The series continues on Saturday with a 6:15 p.m. first pitch with right-hander Pedro Vasquez (6-1, 2.45) making the start for the Curve against right-hander Matt Dennis (AA debut) for the Yard Goats.

The Curve are back at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Thursday, June 27 for a five-game, four-day series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies featuring a giveaway or fireworks each day of the homestand.
