Harrisburg Holds on for An 8-7 Win in 10 Innings

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs (42-59) rally fell short in the 10th inning, falling to the Harrisburg Senators (52-50), 8-7 on Wednesday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Portland finished the homestand at 4-2.

Portland carried a 4-1 lead into the ninth inning, but the Senators tied the game on back-to-back two-out, run-scoring doubles by Daniel Johnson and Carter Kieboom.

In the 10th inning, Harrisburg scored four more runs off Jordan Weems (L, 2-3) to take an 8-4 lead. Taylor Gushue and Austin Davidson supplied RBI doubles. Jake Noll had an RBI single, and a fourth run scored on an error.

Portland responded in their half of the 10th, scoring three runs off Roman Mendez (W, 5-3). Luke Tendler hit a two-run homer on the first pitch, and Jordan Betts followed with a solo homer. Ronald Pena entered the game with one out and induced a 3-6-3 double play to end the game.

Teddy Stankiewicz was terrific in seven innings of work, allowing five hits, one run (unearned) and four strikeouts. Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead on a single by Johnson in the third. Portland responded on a two-out RBI from Jantzen Witte.

Michael Chavis gave the 'Dogs a 3-1 lead with a two-run homer in the fifth, and Witte added an RBI double in the seventh.

The Sea Dogs begin a four-game series with the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) on Thursday night beginning at 7:00 PM from Arm & Hammer Park. Lefty Matt Kent (6-7, 3.44) makes a start in the series opener. Trenton counters with Michael King (4-2, 2.25).
