
Yard Goats Drop Rubber Game in Trenton

Trenton, NJ - The Trenton Thunder shutout the Hartford Yard Goats by the score of 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, New Jersey. Gosuke Katoh had three hits, including a 3 RBI double and drove in four runs and starter Ryan Bollinger and two relievers limited the Yard Goats to just four singles as the Thunder won the series. It was the final game of a two-city six game road trip as the Yard Goats return home tomorrow night for a big four game series against first place New Hampshire. The Yard Goats went 2-4 on the road trip and are now six games out of a playoff spot with 37 games remaining. The Yard Goats were shutout in four of their six games of the trip.
Trenton got off to a nice start and scored runs in five of the first six innings. The Thunder scored the first run of the game in the first inning against Hartford starter Ryan Castellani. Gosuke Katoh and Zach Zehner started the frame with back to back singles and Katoh came home on Trey Amburgey's grounder making it 1-0 Trenton.
Trenton added to its lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. Mandy Alvarez began the inning with a double and scored on Wendell Rijo's RBI single and Rijo came in on an RBI single by Katoh making it 3-0 Thunder.
After adding another run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly, the Thunder scored four times with two outs in the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead. Jeff Hendrix cracked an RBI single scoring Amburgey and later in the inning Gosuke Katoh smashed a three-run double to make it 8-0.
The Yard Goats open a four game homestand on Thursday night at Dunkin' Donuts and host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7:05 PM. The game will be televised on Vantage SportsNet Channel 1600 and also broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
