Trenton Thunder News Release
The Thunder scored runs in five of the first six innings to back a strong start by Ryan Bollinger, and the team coasted to a 9-0 rubber-game victory over the Hartford Yard Goats in front of a crowd of 6,171 on Wednesday at ARM & HAMMER Park.
Bollinger pitched six quality innings, walking three while striking out only two, but limiting Hartford to just three hits.
Gosuke Katoh led off the bottom of the first with a single off Ryan Castellani and later scored the game's first run on a fielder's choice grounder by Trey Amburgey. Trenton extended its lead to 3-0 in the second inning on a run-scoring double by Wendell Rijo and a Katoh RBI-single.
Katoh led the Thunder with three hits in the game and matched a career-high with four RBI when he added a three-run double in the fifth. All nine players in the Thunder lineup reached base safely, while eight of the nine recorded a hit.
Castellani lasted just four and two-thirds innings for Hartford, and was pulled from the game after surrendering the bases-clearing double to Katoh. The right-hander surrendered eight runs on nine hits, both matching season-highs.
David Sosebee relieved Bollinger with a scoreless seventh inning, striking out the side in order. Jordan Foley pitched the final two innings, working around a two-out walk and single in the ninth to complete the shutout, the Thunder's seventh of the season and second in a row.
Your Thunder continue their homestand on Thursday night at 7pm against the Portland Sea Dogs. RHP Michael King (4-2, 2.25) will start for the Thunder, and LHP Matt Kent (6-7, 3.44) will go for Portland. The first 2,000 fans ages 18 and up will receive an Instant Lottery Ticket giveaway, presented by NJ Lottery, and the evening will also feature a postgame Fireworks Spectacular.
