Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will battle against two North Division rivals this week starting with the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers). Rochester will host the Bulldogs twice, beginning with a tilt on Wednesday, December 8th at 7:05 p.m. A rematch between the two clubs will be played on Friday, December 10th at 7:35 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena. The Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) will travel down the QEW to face-off against the 'Dogs on Sunday, December 12th for a 1:00 p.m. game. Sunday's game between the 'Dogs and Marlies will be broadcast nationally on CBC.

Hamilton did not have to travel far this week as all three of their games this week were played at Copps Coliseum. The Abbotsford Heat were the first team to visit the Dog Pound on Wednesday, December 1st. Max Pacioretty continued his November Player of the Month success by potting two goals in the game. He gave the Bulldogs two leads, once in the first period and another in the third. The Heat responded both times tying the 'Dogs 2-2 and forcing the game into overtime. The battle could not be finished in the extra period sending the game into a shootout. Gabriel Dumont netted the winning goal giving Hamilton a 3-2 triumph over the Heat. The Peoria Rivermen travelled to Hamilton to take-on the Bulldogs on Friday, December 3rd. Both teams were held off of the score sheet in the first. Andreas Engqvist broke the 0-0 tie, scoring his third goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the second. Peoria answered Hamilton's goal less than four minutes later tying the game at one. Graham Mink of the Rivermen sealed the win for Peoria as he netted a power-play goal in the third giving them a 2-1 victory. Saturday, December 4th saw the Dogs' battle against the Chicago Wolves. Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the second with goals scored by Jason Krog and Jared Ross. Max Pacioretty scored early in the third period giving the Dogs' a chance at a comeback, but the 'Dogs fell short and lost the contest 2-1. The game was the 'Dogs 'Toy Toss Game' and saw over 2,000 stuffed toys thrown onto the ice following Pacioretty's goal.
