Hagerty Named Hitter of the Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - TinCaps C Jason Hagerty was named the Midwest League Hitter of the Week on Monday. He hit .476 for the week to garner the honor.

Hagerty, the Padres' fifth-round pick in last year's draft, went 10-for-21 during the week, raising his batting average by 15 points to .288. He pounded two doubles, a triple and a pair of homers, scoring eight runs and driving in seven. Hagerty also picked a runner off at first base from behind the plate.

The former Miami Hurricane brings an eight-game hitting streak into Monday's game. He has reached in 39 of his last 40 games and has base hits in 21 of his last 22. Hagerty is batting .424 in the month of July.

Hagerty and the TinCaps finish a three-game series against the River Bandits (Class-A St. Louis Cardinals) Monday at 2:00 p.m. ET. They have Tuesday off before opening a six-game homestand Wednesday at Parkview Field against the Peoria Chiefs (Class-A Chicago Cubs). Game time on Wednesday is slated for 7:05 p.m.
