
Manaurys Correa to Rancho Cucamonga; Carson Andrew joins Kernels

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that RHP Manaurys Correa has been promoted to Rancho Cucamonga (CAL), and RHP Carson Andrew joins the Kernels from Orem (PIO). Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Monday.
Andrew, 22, was selected by the Angels in the 28th round of the 2009 Free Agent Draft out of Jacksonville (FL) University and spent 2009 at Orem, posting a 1-0 record, 2.68 ERA and two saves in 19 games (five starts). In 50.1 IP, he allowed 55 hits and 18 runs (15 earned) with 14 walks and 40 strikeouts. This season at Orem, he's made six relief appearances with an 0-1 record and 3.45 ERA in 15.2 IP.
Correa pitched in 11 games for the Kernels with one start, posting a 1-1 record, 2.45 ERA and one save. In 22 IP, he allowed 16 hits and nine runs (six earned) with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
Andrew will be in Cedar Rapids and available for Monday's noon game with Lake County. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with three currently on the disabled list.
