Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Jake Hager drove in three runs while the Biscuits' (40-37/5-2) bullpen held off the Huntsville Stars (46-26/3-4) in a 4-2 win Wednesday night at Joe Davis Stadium. The Biscuits have now won three-straight.

Ryan Brett led off the game with a double, followed run-scoring double by Hager to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead. Montgomery took a 3-0 lead when Jed Bradley walked Brett with two outs in the second inning. Hager followed with a two-run home run.

Bradley, however, settled in after the first two innings by holding the Biscuits scoreless for the next five innings and matching a career-high with nine strikeouts.

After Grayson Garvin tossed four scoreless and no-hit innings, the Biscuits used three pitchers to bridge the gap to Matt Ramsey in the ninth. Michael Colla (4-8) pitched a scoreless fifth inning for the win while Bryce Stowell and Santiago Garrido combined to allow two runs in three innings.

With the Biscuits leading 4-2, Ramsey allowed a two-out single to Nick Shaw, but was able to strike out the side for his fifth save of the season.

The Biscuits scored an insurance run in the ninth inning without the benefit of a hit. Tim Dillard walked Brett and Hager to start the inning. After Taylor Motter flied out, Dillard was lifted for Tanner Poppe who hit Luke Maile to load the bases then hit Richie Shaffer to bring in a run.

The middle-game of the series is Thursday night at 6:30 with an All-Star pitching matchup. Eight-game winner, RH Victor Mateo will take the ball for the Biscuits while the Stars will have RH Drew Gagnon on the mound.
