Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears (45-31) had a two-run lead entering the top of the ninth inning but surrendered the tying runs and eventually lost 7-6 in 10 innings to the Jacksonville Suns (40-37) Wednesday afternoon at Hank Aaron Stadium. The BayBears blew their largest lead of the season after being up by as many as four runs at the end of the seven inning.
In the ninth inning with Mobile up by two runs and one out, BayBears RHP Kaleb Fleck walked Brent Keyes and allowed a base hit to Austin Nola. After Joe Benson grounded out pushing the runners to second and third Wilfredo Gimenez tied the game at 6-6 with a two-run single to center.
In the top of the 10 inning with runners at second and third and two outs, R.J. Hively's wild pitch to Nola allowed Terrence Dayleg to score the go-ahead run from third for the 7-6 Suns lead.
The BayBears bats were paced by Jake Lamb and Sean Jamieson who both recorded two hits in the game and Jamieson extended his hit streak to 11 games.
The two runs scored by Jacksonville in the ninth forced RHP Bradin Hagens to have to settle for a no-decision. Hagens allowed just two runs on six hits, walking two and striking out one in six innings on the mound.
Mobile and Jacksonville continue the five-game series with game three on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM with gates opening at 6 PM. Thursday night is "Thirsty Thursday" at Hank Aaron Stadium with great drink specials from 6-8 PM. It's also Transformers Night with a Transformers theme throughout the game.
