Bradley Shines in Stars Loss

Huntsville, AL-The Montgomery Biscuits led wire to wire Wednesday night defeating the Huntsville Stars 4-2 at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.

The Biscuits scored early against Jed Bradley(1-3) who started for the Stars.

In the top of the first inning, Ryan Brett led off with a double down the left field line. Jake Hager then laced an rbi double to the gap in left center scoring Brett.

In the top of the second inning, Bradley retired the first two Biscuits before he walked Brett. That walk proved to be a costly one.

Hager launched a two-run homer over the left field fence giving the Biscuits a 3-0 lead.

Bradley, who suffered the loss settled down and wound up pitching seven innings. He struck out a season high nine batters.

The Stars scored their lone runs of the game in the sixth and seventh inning. In the sixth, Kentrail Davis scored on a throwing error by catcher Luke Maile.

In the seventh, Nick Shaw produced an rbi single scoring D'Vontrey Richardson. Shaw's single cut the Montgomery lead to 3-2.

The Biscuits scored their final run in the ninth. With the bases loaded, Tanner Poppe hit Richie Shaffer forcing in Brett making it 4-2.

Matt Ramsey recorded his fifth save of the year for the Biscuits when he struck out Yadiel Rivera to end the game.

Michael Colla(4-8) earned the win for the Biscuits. He pitched a scoreless fifth.

Montgomery(5-2, 40-37) leads the series 2-0. Game three of the series will be Thursday night. The Stars(3-4, 49-28) will have RHP Drew Gagnon(4-2, 3.20) on the mound. Montgomery will turn to RHP Victor Mateo(8-4, 3.39). The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:15 pm CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
