Guerrero Jr.'s Homerun Streak Continues as Bisons Fall 6-3 to Toledo
August 11, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The streak is now at four.
The top prospect in baseball wowed Buffalo fans yet again Saturday night as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. extended his home-run streak to four straight games in a 6-3 Herd loss to the Mud Hens at Coca-Cola Field.
With 15,615 in the house for the Bisons annual Superhero Night at the ballpark, Vladdy left the yard in the fourth inning by driving a 2-2 pitch from Tyler Alexander off the glove of Mikie Mahtook and over the wall in right field.

The blast brings Guerrero Jr. one step closer to putting his name into the Bisons record books. Only four other Herd hitters have homered in five straight games, the most recent being third baseman Andy Marte in 2006. The other three are all in the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame; Ollie Carnegie, Carlos Garcia and Bill Selby.
Guerrero added a sharp single to left to finish the game 2-4 at the plate. His average is now .441 with an .853 slugging pct.
But it was Mahtook and the Hens that had the last laugh on Saturday. With the game tied at one, Toledo exploded for four runs off Bisons starter Brandon Cumpton. Christian Stewart led off the frame with his 19th home run of the season to give the Mud Hens the lead. Mahtook followed with an RBI-triple to centerfield before scoring on a ground out to make it 4-1 Toledo. Former Herd designated hitter Jarrod Saltalamacchia capped the rally with a home run to right for his fifth blast of the season.
Guerrero's home run in the fourth made it 5-2 and Anthony Alford doubled and scored in the fifth to pull Buffalo within two. But that was as close as the Herd would get, dropping to 11 games under the .500 mark at 52-63.
The Bisons homestand concludes Sunday with an appearance from the ZOOperstars and postgame kids run the bases. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.
