LAST TIME OUT: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 4-3 in ten innings to the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Friday night. With the bases loaded and no one out, the Bulls scored the walk-off winner on a missed catch error to take the series opener.

Andrew Velazquez hit a solo home run off RailRiders starting pitched Nestor Cortes to leadoff the bottom of the first. The Bulls sent six more batters to the plate in the inning and loaded the bases, but Cortes and the defense worked out of the jam as Durham stranded three on. Giovanny Urshela hit Chih-Wei Hu's second pitch in the top of the third over the 32-foot high wall in left to tie the game at one. Ryan McBroom led off the fourth with a solo home run to left-center, giving Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 2-1 advantage.

In the seventh, Nate Lowe doubled with one on, plating Jason Coats from first to tie the game at two. The game remained even after nine and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pushed ahead in the top of the tenth. Mark Payton reached on a bunt single and Ian Gibaut's throw to first was errant, allowing pace-of-play runner L.J. Mazzilli to score for a 3-2 lead.

In the bottom of the tenth, Lowe singled off J.P. Feyeresien to move pace-of-player runner Coats to third. Brandon Snyder walked to load the bases. Feyeresien walked Refsnyder to tie the game. Nick Cuiffo hit a fly ball to left that McBroom dropped, allowing the winning run to score on an error.

Feyeresien (6-5) took the loss while Gibaut (4-2) garnered the win.

Cortes worked 6.1 innings, striking out five and walking two in the no-decision.

LIMITED LATE RALLIES: The RailRiders are now 48-5 when leading after six innings.

BACK DOWN: Chance Adams was optioned by the Yankees on August 9 and has reported to the RailRiders roster. After 87 games in the Minors over three years, Adams made his Major League debut last Saturday for New York in Boston. The right-hander allowed home runs to Mitch Moreland and J.D. Martinez, struck out two and walked one in the loss. Adams has started 21 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, including a June 7 outing at PNC Field against Durham. The Bulls scored four in the fifth off Adams to tie the game at four before scoring once in the seventh against the RailRiders bullpen for a 5-4 win.

LAST CHANCE: Chance Adams last start in the Minors was on July 30 at Rochester. Adams worked six no-hit innings against the Red Wings as part of a seven-inning nightcap, but the RailRiders could not provide any support. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre lost 1-0 in the eighth. Adams surrendered two hits over seven and a third; the longest appearance by a RailRiders starter this year.

NO BULL: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre continues its only series in Durham this season tonight. The RailRiders took the first meeting of the season 6-3 as David Hale topped Chih-Wei Hu at PNC Field on June 5. A Bruce Caldwell home run from the nine spot in the order paced the offense. Durham captured the next two games by 10-5 and 5-4 finals. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has gone 34-23 since that series ended.

WALKING OFF MAD: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is 4-6 in extra inning games this season, including walk-off losses at Charlotte on April 13, Louisville on May 31, Columbus on July 21 and at Rochester on July 30.

SERIES STUFF: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had lost two straight series before taking two of three at Norfolk.

ROAD WOES GO AWAY? The RailRiders are eight games over .500 at home, but two under on the road this year. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has not had a losing road record since 2014; the last time the club did not make the I.L. playoffs.
