Guerrero Jr. Homers Again, Bisons Fall to Stripers, 9-5
August 9, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continues to put on a show, but unfortunately for the Bisons, the Gwinnett Stripers put more runs up on the scoreboard.
Guerrero Jr. homered for the second time in as many of nights, but the Stripers pounded out 18 hits in a 9-5 victory over Buffalo, Thursday night at Coca-Cola Field. The win gave Gwinnett the 2-1 series victory over the Herd.
Guerrero's blast was an absolute laser down the left field line in the sixth inning of a 2-for-4 night at the plate. The 19-year old prospect now has three straight multi-hit games and a .462 average in his first nine contests with the Herd.

But by the time Guerrero Jr. left the yard, the Stripers had gotten the better of the Bisons bullpen. Gwinnett scored four in the sixth and three more in the seventh to erase a 3-1 Herd lead. Phil Gosselin highlighted the first rally with a two-run single to centerfield. An inning later, Alex Jackson hit a two-run homer before another RBI-hit from Gosselin that put the game out of reach for Buffalo.
The Bisons appeared to be in good shape for their second straight win. Dwight Smith Jr. gave the Bisons a 3-1 lead when he hit a two-run home run to right-center in the third inning. Herd starter Matt Tracy worked the first five innings of the game and allowed just one run with five strikeouts and no walks.
