Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons and the Gwinnett Stripers will play the rubber match of the three game series at Coca-Cola Field. The Herd will then play host to the Toledo Mud Hens for a three game series spanning August 10-12 to close out their second-last home stand of the season. After completing the homestand, the Bisons travel to Charlotte for a three-game series August 13-15 before visiting Gwinnett 8/16- 8/19 for a four-game series to conclude a seven-game road trip.

Last Game: BUF 6, GWN 1

The Herd earned their 51st victory of the season last night, defeating Gwinnett. RHP Jacob Waguespack was solid in his second start for Buffalo, pitching 5.1IP, giving up 4H, 1R/0ER, 1BB, while striking out six. 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-4, 2R, 2RBI and launched his first career Triple-A home run to lead the Bison's offense. C Reese McGuire hit his sixth home run of the season, collecting 3RBI.

Gwinnett (1-1)

The Bisons and Stripers play only seven times this season. The three-game series on 8/7- 8/9 marks the first meeting of the year. In 2017, Buffalo went 2-4 against Gwinnett. The Herd is looking for the first series win within the last five years against the Stripers.

Today's Starter: LHP Matt Tracy

LHP Matt Tracy will make his seventh start for the Herd tonight, looking to earn his first win of the season. In his last appearance, Tracy threw 5.0IP, allowing 9H, 3R/1ER, 3BB, 3K. The lefty has been consistent thus far, recording at least five innings in each start this season.

Reese McGuire

C Reese McGuire went 2-4 in yesterday's win against Gwinnett. McGuire hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to extend the Bison lead to 5-1, and added some additional insurance with an RBI double in the eighth. The lefty swinging catcher is starting to catch fire, hitting .375 (3-8) in his last two games.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been a dominant force at the plate since joining the Bisons on July 31st. Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run in a Bisons' uniform last night, crushing it an estimated 420 feet. In eight games, he has hit .455 (10-22) with an OBP of .581 thanks to his eight walks.

Bisons' Bullpen

The Bisons' bullpen continued to throw heat and shut down the Stripers offense in a combined 7.2 innings of work in the first two games of the series. LHP Jose Fernandez continued to impress with 1.2IP and 2SO in last night's victory. Fernandez is working on a six-game scoreless streak of his own which has spanned 7.2 innings. LHP Tim Mayza finished the game, adding 2.0IP and striking out three.

Transactions

On Tuesday, the Toronto Blue Jays announced a Minor League trade that sent RHP Nick Tepesch to the Detroit Tigers organization in exchange for cash considerations. Also, INF Jason Leblebijian was activated off of the Disabled List, while INF Gift Ngoepe was placed on the Temporary Inactive list.

LHP Ryan Borucki gets the ball tonight, as Toronto hopes to salvage the last game of the series against Boston (7:07 p.m.). After tonight's game, the Jays host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series on 8/10-8/12.
