Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - The much anticipated debut of Taylor Guerrieri, as well as two Andrew Toles triples, provided the Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-2) with just enough ammo in the team's 4-3 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (3-2) on Monday's Citizens First Opening Night at Bowling Green Ballpark. Leonardo Reginatto's RBI-groundout broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading the Hot Rods to the one-run win.

For the fifth time in five games this season, the Hot Rods took the first lead of the contest. On Monday night, the Bowling Green offense struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning against Toronto Blue Jays top-10 prospect Daniel Norris. After Joey Rickard's line-drive single set the tone, the first of two Toles triples gave the Hot Rods the early 1-0 lead. Toles was then driven home on a Tyler Goeddel grounder to third base.

The Hot Rods scored another run in the bottom of the second when Rickard singled home Reginatto. Meanwhile, Guerrieri was dealing through his three innings. The 20-year-old righty quickly navigated through the Lansing order, facing the minimum in his three, impressive frames.

Eduar Quinonez took over for Guerrieri and was cruising until the Lugnuts got on the board in the top of the sixth. After an RBI-groundout from Ronnie Melendez, Gustavo Pierre struck a game-tying, two-run home run with two outs in the inning.

However, the very next half inning, the Hot Rods scored the eventual game-winning run. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Tommy Coyle drew one of his four walks. Coyle reached third base after a Justin O'Conner fielder's choice and accompanying error by Lansing catcher Santiago Nessy. Reginatto then drove in Coyle on a groundout to third base for the Hot Rods go-ahead run.

Quinonez then worked a scoreless seventh inning, which was followed by scoreless frames from Jose Molina and Ryan Garton, who recorded the first save of the 2013 season for the Hot Rods. The win, preserved by Garton, improves the Hot Rods to 3-2 all-time in Bowling Green Ballpark home openers.
