Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL have announced three updates for the roster prior to this weekend's three games. RUSSELL SPENCE (F) has been claimed of waivers after being released from the Toledo Storm of the ECHL on Wednesday. Spence will be in the lineup (#7) for the Grrrowl on Friday night to play the Gladiators in Gwinnett. JONATHAN ZION (D) will be in uniform (#19) when the Grrrowl return home on Saturday night at the BI-LO Center to face Gwinnett for the second consecutive night. NICK LENT (F) has been added to the roster and was immediately assigned to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. Lent should be in uniform (#22) for the Grrrowl on Tuesday night at the BI-LO Center in a game against the Columbia Inferno.
SPENCE (6-3, 220lb., left wing) comes from Toledo after playing 11 games for the Storm after coming from Columbus Cottonmouths in a trade earlier in the year. He was a 9th round selection by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. In 34 games this season in the ECHL, Russell (a Portage La Praririe, Manitoba native) has totaled 1 goal and 8 penalty minutes.
ZION and LENT came to Greenville in a trade with the Reading Royals earlier this week for Chris Lynch and Eric Lind.
The Grrrowl travel to Columbia to face the Inferno on Thursday evening, and will play the Gwinnett Gladiators back-to-back this weekend, with a road game on Friday and in the BI-LO Center on Saturday. Greenville Grrrowl single-game tickets, mini-plans and flex packs are on sale now. Fans can call 864-467-GRRR or log on to grrrowl.com for more information.
