Greenville, SC â The Florida Everblades scored two shorthanded goals and beat the Greenville Grrrowl 4-1 in front of 4,056 at the BI-LO Center Thursday night. It was Greenville's 5th straight loss.
George Awada (SH), Don Smith and Tom Buckley (SH) opened a 3-0 lead for Florida before MATT DEMARSKI scored his team-leading 8th goal of the season at 11:37 of the second period. Ryan Murphy scored the only third period goal, and the Everblades went on to the 3-goal victory. The Grrrowl outshot Florida 31-24. JAYME PLATT stopped 20 of 24 shots for Greenville. The Grrrowl went 0 for 6 on the powerplay, while Florida went 0 for 4 with the man-advantage. These teams will meet 8 more times in the regular season.
Game 3 of this 5-game homestand is scheduled for Saturday (7:05 PM, no local radio coverage) as the Augusta Lynx travel to the BI-LO Center for the first time this season.
