Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League prepare to host the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Saturday night at 7:00pm at Centennial Garden. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will receive a Condors backpack.
KGET-TV 17, Bakersfield Mitsubishi and Golden State Motors sponsor the backpacks. Perfect for school, these see-through red backpacks feature the Condors logo, and have been one of the most popular giveaways in past seasons.
It's also a San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District "Please Don't Light Tonight" (PDLT) Game. If the Condors shut out their opponent, or, in other words, their opponent doesn't light the goal light, all fans will receive a complimentary terrace ticket to the next PDLT night, which falls on December 3rd. This promotion will run on four nights throughout the season.
With Thanksgiving coming up next week, the Condors are asking for everyone's help in collecting frozen turkeys for the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter. Folks who bring a turkey to the game may have the opportunity to participate in the Stuff the Net Turkey Shoot, sponsored by KLLY 95.3, during the first intermission. Of the donors, five names will be selected to try to bowl their turkey into the goal from the blue line to compete for prizes. First Prize is a commemorative Thanksgiving game jersey, autographed by Miles Standish (one of the original pilgrims). The other four competitors will win a Condors youth Thanksgiving jersey.
The new craze sweeping Condorstown is spreading through Centennial Garden this weekend. Fans can have their hair lopped off Paul Kelly-style at Saturday's Game. The Condors front office has vowed to keep the shaving going with each successive Condors victory. This past weekend's two-game sweep of the Fresno Falcons cost Assistant GM Chris Freshour (who is also the reigning Co-WCHL Marketing Director of the Year) and Community Relations Director John Ayre their locks. The cuts will be offered free of charge for anyone wishing to join the Condors Army.
Joe Cannon, from the U.S. Marine Corps, will return to sing the National Anthem this Saturday. The Condors are now 3-0 on home ice when Cannon steps behind the microphone. Kevin St. Pierre will also be awarded his third WCHL Goaltender of the Week award at center ice during the first intermission. St. Pierre has won half of the six weekly goaltender awards this season.
Single-game tickets are available through the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825), or by visiting the Condors office at Centennial Garden.
Condor Droppings: The November website auction is a Q & A with your favorite player. The winner will sit down for a question and answer session with the Condor of their choice. The transcript will be printed in the Nightly Notes for a select game and the winner will receive two tickets to that game, and a copy of the Nightly Notes signed by the team. Log on to www.bakersfieldcondors.com to bid. All proceeds go to benefit the American Red Cross â Kern County Chapter.
