ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Tomas Kapusta scored twice and Jamie O'Leary registered a goal and three assists as Long Beach cruised to a 5-2 win over the Anchorage Aces Wednesday night before 2,244 at Sullivan Arena.

Long Beach center Tomas Hradecky opened the scoring by snapping a wrister past Aces' netminder Christian Soucy at 9:06 of the first period. Four minutes later, Kimbi Daniels tied the game on an Anchorage power play with his second goal in as many nights. But with three minutes remaining in the period, O'Leary gave the Ice Dogs the lead for good with a coast-to-coast rush and a 2-1 edge heading into first intermission.

Long Beach (now 7-5 on the year) took command in the second period, outshooting the Aces 17-6 and increasing the lead to 4-1 on goals by Chris Kenady (just 1:12 into the frame) and Kapusta's first of two on the night. Anchorage mustered one last gasp, as B.J. Young scored a shorthanded goal with 90 seconds left in the period to cut the gap to 4-2 going into the final 20 minutes.

Kapusta finally sealed victory for the Ice Dogs with 5:12 left in the game with his second of the night and eighth of the year, seven of which have come against Anchorage (4-11-1). O'Leary's four-point night means that 12 of his 15 points this year have come in head-to-head confrontations with the Aces. Defenseman Mike Marostega assisted on both Anchorage goals.

The Aces will take the weekend off before heading to Boise next week for a three-game series against the first-place Idaho Steelheads (10-4-2), beginning Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. AST and continuing Friday and Saturday night at 5:00 p.m. AST. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
