IceGators sign Mamane

Lafayette, LA – The Louisiana IceGators have signed left wing Shawn Mamane, IceGators head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish announced Thursday. The 23-year-old Mamame was waived by the Arkansas RiverBlades earlier this week.

Mamane had two points, both goals, and two penalty minutes in 10 games with the RiverBlades. He also had two points, both goals, and two penalty minutes, in six games this season with the Richmond Renegades. Mamane began the 2001-02 season by going scoreless in eight games with Peoria, but he flourished with Arkansas, recording 31 points (14g, 17a) and 119 penalty minutes in 48 games.

Mamane a 6-foot, 190-pound winger who has 55 games of AHL experience, has 53 points (21g, 32a) and 300 penalty minutes in 146 career games.

"We're very fortunate to have a player the caliber of Shawn that was accessible to us on such short notice," said Farrish. "He's experienced, and he brings a physical presence, which we will need especially this weekend."

Louisiana begins a five-game homestand Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game against Baton Rouge, followed by games Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Columbus Cottonmouths.
