Growlers Earn First Overtime Victory
November 2, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Newfoundland Growlers News Release
The Newfoundland Growlers continued the win one, lose one trend once again Friday evening after a 4-3 overtime thriller in Manchester.
Josh Kestner opened the scoring early at the 2:06 mark of the first period by tipping in an Evan Neugold point shot to beat the Monarchs netminder.
Neugold would add his own tally just 2 minutes later after he sailed a shot from the point behind Wildung to put the Growlers up by 2 early in the first.
Manchester would get on the board in the second with a tally from Pierog but Brady Ferguson would respond, on the power-play, later in the period to hold the 2 goal lead.
The Monarchs would battle back in the third by scoring two goals by Marcinew and Watson to tie the game at 3, forcing an extra frame of hockey.
Josh Kestner, who scored both the first goal of the game would make franchise history by netting the first overtime winner in Growlers History, on the power-play, just 1:33 into the extra period.
