
Allen's Shmyr Named Howies Hockey Tape/ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Allen Americans' forward Braylon Shmyr is the Howies Hockey Tape ECHL Rookie of the Month for October.
The 21-year-old scored seven goals and assisted on seven others for 14 points in eight games during the opening month of the ECHL?season.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Shmyr tallied at least one point in five of his eight games in October, and had four multi-point games, notching four points in a 6-5 shootout loss at Wichita on Oct. 19 and in a 6-5 win at Rapid City on Oct. 29 and three points in a 6-4 loss at Tulsa on Oct. 21.
Shmyr, who was loaned to Springfield of the American Hockey League on?Wednesday, is tied for first in the ECHL?with seven goals while his 14 points leads rookies and is second overall in the league.
Prior to turning pro, Shmyr tallied 240 points (111g-129a) in 300 career games in the Western Hockey League with Brandon and Saskatoon.
In recognition of his accomplishment, Howies Hockey Tape will present Braylon Shmyr with a Howies Prize Pack during an on-ice ceremony at an upcoming Americans' home game.
