Boise, Idaho - Simon Ferguson (11) tipped home a puck with just under 18 seconds left in regulation and the Utah Grizzlies (23-14-3-1) went on to beat the Idaho Steelheads (17-16-3-6) 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday night in Boise.

"We made our mistakes, but we stuck together and persevered," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "We needed this win more than anyone could imagine. We'll build on the positives and move on to Friday."

Kevin Deeth and Brett Parnham scored in the first two rounds of the shootout as Utah shot first and goaltender Andrew Engelage stopped all four shots he saw to give Utah their ECHL leading 16th road win of the year.

Idaho took a 3-2 lead 2:33 into the third period as Evan Barlow knocked in a rebound after Engelage made a fantastic first save.

The Grizzlies rallied from a 1-0 first period deficit and scored two in the middle frame to build a 2-1 lead. Brent Gauvreau (5) took a centering attempt from leading scorer Kevin Deeth to tie at 4:45 of the second period. Utah took their first lead of the night as Tom May went in and scored top shelf for his fourth goal of the year at 13:40. Brett Parnham picked up the first assist.

Utah continues their Boise trip Friday and Saturday. Face-off each evening is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Friday, January 28 with Ontario. It is Maverik Night, with all tickets in the arena available for $5 when fans present a receipt from Maverik at the arena box office.
