Aces Acquire Ruegsegger from Grizzlies

The Alaska Aces have acquired forward, Tyler Ruegsegger (ROOG-say-gurr) from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for Maxime Tanguay, Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Thursday. Ruegsegger is expected to arrive in Anchorage this weekend, as the Aces prepare for two games against the Victoria Salmon Kings. The Aces begin a five-game home stand when they host the Salmon Kings on Friday and Saturday night at 7:15pm. Tickets are available for both games. Ruegsegger, who turned 23 on Wednesday, is in his rookie season after playing collegiately for one of the nation's top programs at Denver University. So far in his first campaign as a pro, Ruegsegger has 14 points (7g, 7a) and 24 PIM in 35 games. The Lakewood, CO native scored in each of his first two pro games on Oct. 27th and 29th in Idaho. Standing 6'0", and weighing 200 lbs., Ruegsegger is a former 6th round selection (#166 overall) of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2006 NHL Draft. While with Denver, Ruegsegger finished third all-time with 28 power play goals. In his senior year, he finished second on the Pioneers with a career-high 41 points, while serving as an alternate captain. He was named to 2010 All-WCHA Second Team, and was a co-recipient of Denver's award for top scholar athlete in 2010, 2008, and 2007. He was named to All-WCHA Academic Team three times, and majored in business administration. Ruegsegger represented the U.S. at 2008 World Junior Championships, helping the club to a fourth-place finish. Prior to college, he won a national championship at Shattuck-St. Mary's in 2005.

Tanguay departs the Aces after totaling 15 points (4g, 11a) in 27 games for Alaska.
