Grizzlies swipe 3-2 win from Condors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors lost to the Utah Grizzlies, 3-2, Tuesday night in front of 4,095 at Rabobank Arena in downtown Bakersfield. The Condors jumped out to an early lead, but fell in regulation for the first time since Jan. 8.

The Condors (12-21-8, 32 points) opened up a 2-0 lead in the first period, scoring twice in the span of 63 seconds. LW Mark Derlago connected on the power play at 9:33 to make it 1-0. It was his seventh straight game with a goal, tying a Condors team record. Just over a minute later, LW Evan Kotsopoulos found the back of the net, trickling a shot through the pads of G Nathan Lawson to make it 2-0. The Grizzlies got on the board with a power play goal in the final minute of the first by Olivier Labelle.

Utah (20-19-4, 44 points) completed their come back against G Michel Robinson, who replaced G Yutaka Fukufuji to start the second period, as RW Travis Rycroft notched the tying tally at the 13:44 mark of the second period.

The Grizzlies took their first lead of the night 13:44 into the final frame, as LW Ryan Kinasewich slapped a rebound past Robinson for the eventual game-winning, power-play goal. The one-goal Utah lead withstood a flurry of shots and offensive pressure by the Condors in the final minutes of the game, as the Grizzlies held on to win, 3-2.

Notes:LW Mark Derlago extended his goal-scoring streak to seven games (10g), tying Paul Rosebush for the longest goal streak in Condors history. F Sean Venedam registered an assist on Derlago's goal, extending his point streak to seven games (1g, 7a). G Michel Robinson stopped 26 of 28 shots in the loss.

This weekend the Condors head up the valley for a pair of road games against the Stockton Thunder. Friday night's game is the next "See The Condors On The Road" Game this season.
