Checkers Defeated By Cyclones, 2-1

Cincinnati, O.H. - Charlotte couldn't stop a determined Cyclones team in the third period as Cincinnati would come back to defeated the Checkers, 2-1.

The scoring started in the second period while the Checkers worked the power-play. It was Mark Lee feeding Bruce Graham in front of the net. Graham would make no mistake and score the first goal of the game at 3:35 beating Cyclones netminder, Dov Grummet-Morris.

The final period told the story as the Cyclones would get the two goals necessary to defeat the Checkers. The first came early in the stanza when Thomas Beauregard fired a shot through traffic that found its way past Charlotte goalie, Chris Holt at 3:30 tying the contest at 1-1. The game winning tally was netted by Scott Reynolds at 7:17.

Notes: Holt turned aside 39 of 41 shots while Grummet-Morris stopped 32 of 33...Only Charlotte could tally a power play goal on their six attempts. Cincinnati went scoreless on five tries.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Feb. 7 against the South Carolina Stingrays. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date.
