Boise, ID - John Lammers scored twice and added an assist, while Greg Rallo also scored twice for the home team in the Steelheads 6-2 win against the Thunder in front of 3,858 fans at Qwest Arena on Wednesday.

The comfortable victory helps the Steelheads (24-13-7), who have won three in a row and nine of their last 11, jump to within four points of the Salmon Kings for first place in the West Division, while they sweep the Thunder (18-22-2) in the two-game home set.

Just 25 seconds into the first period the Thunder earned their first, first period goal in their last eight games on a tally Ryan MacMurchy, his second of the series. Brandon Schwartz and Tom Zanoski got the helpers on the fastest goal to start a game in Qwest Arena by a Steelheads' opponent this season.

Less than two minutes later the Steelheads answered on John Snowden's first with the club. Playing in his fourth game, Snowden tapped home the rebound off Lance Galbraith's initial offering to tie the game at one.

With four minutes left in the period Lammers buried a power play goal, with Galbraith and Hay collecting the assists. Lammers first of the night made it 2-1 in favor of the Steelheads heading into the first intermission.

The Thunder tied the game at two at 6:17 of the second period, when Schwartz swept a shot underneath Kellen Briggs (22 saves). Mark Adamek and Zanoski got the assists.

Matt Craig restored the Steelheads lead, putting them ahead 3-2 at 8:06 on a breakaway goal. Taking a pass from Hay, Craig stuffed a backhander through the legs of Glenn Fisher (34 saves) for his sixth of the season and his second game-winner.

In the final minute of the stanza Lammers notched his second power play goal of the evening, a left point shot that fluttered off Fisher and trickled into the net. Marty Flichel picked up the only assist.

At the second intermission, the Steelheads led 4-2 and they were out-shooting the Thunder 23-21.

Rallo tallied both of his markers in the third period separated by less than three minutes, with the latter marking the third Steelheads' power play goal of the contest. Taggart Desmet and Mike Sullivan registered the assists on his first of the night and Lammers getting the only assist on Rallo's team-leading 17th.

The final shots favored the Steelheads 40-24, as they held the Thunder in check on their five power plays, while converting on three of their five opportunities.

The Steelheads now hit the road for five straight matches beginning on Friday, February 1 at the Phoenix RoadRunners. The puck drops at 7:11 p.m. MST. All the action can be heard live on 1350 AM, KTIK "The Ticket" or via the B2 Networks.
