Grizzlies Sign Patrick Asselin; Will Join Team In Alaska Friday

Anchorage, Alaska - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed rookie forward Patrick Asselin to a contract after claiming him off of waivers Tuesday from Idaho.

Asselin will make his Utah debut Friday when the Grizzlies play game two of their three game series in Alaska. Face-off is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

The 22-year-old played three games with the Idaho Steelheads this year after tallying 39 goals and 40 assists for 79 points in 50 games last year playing for Hern EV in Germany after playing five seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League. In his final three seasons as an amateur, he tallied 175 points (91 goals, 84 assists) in 199 games with Oshawa and Saginaw.
