South Carolina's Ford Named ECHL Goaltender Of The Month For December

PRINCETON, N.J. - Todd Ford of the South Carolina Stingrays has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for December.

The 25 year old was 9-2-0 with a goals-against average of 2.18 and a.935 save percentage to help the Stingrays go 11-2-0 and remain on top of the ECHL standings with 52 points.

Ford, who was voted to be the starting goaltender for the American Conference in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Reebok Hockey and brought to you by Toyota and the City of Ontario, had a career-best nine-game win streak and allowed two goals or less in seven of his 11 starts, including his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 win at Charlotte on Dec. 13.

Selected in the third round (74th overall) by Toronto in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft and currently on loan to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, the Calgary, Alberta native is 16-6-1 and leads the league in wins while he is second with 690 saves and tied for second with 1,416 minutes.

Ford has played in the ECHL since he was a rookie in 2004-05 and is 99-69-16 with eight shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.92 and a save percentage of.912 in 194 regular season games with South Carolina, Victoria, Columbia, and Pensacola. He has played in 20 Kelly Cup Playoffs games and is 12-8 with one shutout, a goals-against average of 2.30 and a save percentage of.931 with Victoria and Columbia. He has also played parts of four seasons in the AHL where he is 6-5-1 with a goals-against average of 3.43 and a save percentage of.921 in 15 games with Texas and Toronto.

Runners-Up: Danny Taylor, Gwinnett (2-2-0, 2.02 GAA,.942 save pct.), Jordan Pearce, Toledo (6-2-0, 2.77,.916 save pct.) and David Shantz, Victoria (8-1-2, 2.24 GAA,.924 save pct.).
