Elmira's Justin Donati Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie Of The Month For November

PRINCETON, N.J. - Elmira Jackals forward Justin Donati has been selected as the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month for December.

It is the second time that he has won the award having been chosen in October after leading the league with 10 assists and tying for the league lead with 14 points while scoring in all seven games to help Elmira have its best start ever at 7-0-0. Donati has also been named ECHL Player of the Week two times for Nov. 9-15 and Dec. 28-Jan. 3.

The 23 year old had a point in all but four of his 13 games during December, including six multiple-point games. He registered 16 points (7g-9a) and helped the Jackals improve to 15-13-4 before the New Year to hold onto second place in the East Division.

Donati finished out the month with back-to-back multi-point games, notching two assists in a 7-1 win over Reading on Dec. 29 and scoring three points (2g-1a) in a 6-3 win against Johnstown on Dec. 31. He also had a two-goal game against South Carolina in a 4-3 loss on Dec. 5.

He leads the league with 52 points and 34 assists and is tied for third with 18 goals. He is currently riding a four-game point streak (4g-6a) and leads the Jackals in all scoring categories.

He played for Las Vegas in 2007-08 and had 11 assists in 14 games for the Wranglers. Donati has played the last two seasons for the University of Prince Edward Island where he had 58 points (22g-36a) in 31 games. He played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2003-07 and had 269 points (120g-149a) in 213 regular season games and 46 points (24g-22a) in 40 playoff games for Oshawa, Sudbury and Toronto.
