Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City - The Utah Grizzlies used 32 saves from Jason Bacashihua to hold on to a 2-1 decision over the Milwaukee Admirals at the 'E' Center Wednesday. The win halted a three-game home losing streak for the Grizzlies.

Utah looked like they wanted to put things right after being blanked by the Admirals on Monday. The Grizzlies (14-20-4-3) began the scoring in the first period with a when Antti Miettinen executed a perfectly timed a pass across the net to Jarrod Skalde who knocked his 16th goal of the season through at the 4:50 mark. It was Miettinen's fifth helper, his fourth since returning on Jan. 2 from a shoulder injury.

The Admirals' (18-12-4-2) offense, which put together six goals against Utah on Monday, finally managed to tie the game late in the second period. It was Tony Hrkac who found the net at the 18:31 mark. Hrkac extended his goal streak to five straight games.

The Grizzlies responded at 2:19 of the third when Zenon Konopka battled at the crease in traffic to force the puck past Admirals netminder Wade Flaherty and claim his second goal of the season.

Before celebrating Gord Dineen Retirement Night on Saturday, Utah will head to San Antonio Thursday to take on the Rampage at the SBC Center. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm (mst).
