Kostur Returned to Columbus

Albany N.Y. – The Albany River Rats announced today that goaltender Matus Kostur has been reassigned to the Columbus Cottonmouths of the ECHL.

Kostur, 23, made his American Hockey League debut last Friday night at Binghamton and then made his first AHL start on Saturday in Hershey. The native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia put together a 0-2 record with a 4.16 goals against average and a .889 save percentage for the River Rats. He returns to the Cottonmouths where he posted a 6-2 mark along with a 2.09 goals against average, a .918 save percentage and one shutout in 10 games during the 2003-04 campaign.

The River Rats return to action Friday night in a road match-up against the Binghamton Senators at 7:05pm from the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Albany returns home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 7:00pm face-off on Ladies Night this Saturday at Pepsi Arena. Mary Kay Cosmetics will have makeovers and giveaways throughout the night and the PowerPuff Girls Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup will be at the game. The first 2,000 fans receive a FREE foam hand plus there will be prizes from Boscov's, Cravings Too, Yankee Floral, Delmar Heath and Fitness.

Each contest can be heard on Moon Radio AM 1160 WABY with a simulcast available on Talk 1240 AM WVKZ. All River Rats games are also available free of charge online at www.albanyriverrats.com. Each broadcast is preceded by the Capitaland Motors GMC Pre-Game Show 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.

The Albany River Rats, in their 11th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils.
