Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Situation

The Grizzlies head to Canada with a two-game winning streak, outscoring Las Vegas 7-2 in games Saturday and Monday and breaking one-one ties with two consecutive goals Saturday and three Monday to complete the victories.

Veteran Catches Fire

Grizzlies forward Lance Galbraith, who was acquired in a trade from Alaska on December 27, has racked up three-straight multiple-point games for Utah; tallying two goals, five assists and a plus-five in a stretch that started Friday.

Doubling Up

Grizzlies forward AJ Perry has multiple-points in five of his last seven games for Utah, tallying four goals and 11 assists during that stretch.

Good Goaltending

Following an injury to Mitch O'Keefe, who had made seven-straight starts entering last week, counterpart Beau Erickson stepped in and is riding a two-game winning streak after stopping 56 of 58 shots Saturday and Monday against Las Vegas for a 1.00 goals-against-average and a.965 save percentage.

Shots On The Other Goal

The Grizzlies have gone a season-high eight-straight games with 30 shots or more. Utah has 125 shots in their last three games, including a season-high of 55 shots Friday against Las Vegas. 55 shots was five off of the team record of 60 set by Utah December 4, 2007.

Versatile AHL D-Man

Peter Aston, who was assigned to the Grizzlies by the NHL's Florida Panthers on January 28, has one goal and four assists in his first six games with Utah. Aston also leads the Grizzlies with 15 shots on goal in his last three games.

Point Streak Pauses: Continues

Tom May entered play Monday with a five-game scoring streak held over from January 13 after he missed seven-straight games injured. With a second period assist, the six-foot-three second-year forward extended his streak to six-games with at least a point. It marked May's third five-game scoring streak of the year, but the first time he has been able to run one to six-straight games.

Preventative Penalty-Killing

The Grizzlies hit the road for Victoria with a season-high three-game streak in which they have not allowed a power-play goal. Utah has also gone a season-low eight times shorthanded combined over the last three games.

Knock, Knock, Knock... Housekeeping

The Grizzlies left Tuesday morning for Victoria and will not return to Salt Lake City until Sunday, February 14 in a six-game road trip that will take them to Victoria followed by Boise for back-to-back Wednesday, Friday and Saturday series.

Passports In Hand Please

The Grizzlies haven't visited Victoria since the second road trip of last season when they took two of three games from the Salmon Kings October 29, 31 and November 1 of 2008.
