Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Bryan Ewing has been returned to the Royals from the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. Also, in a separate transaction, the Royals claimed defenseman Ryan-James Hand after he was waived by the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

Ewing, a second year pro from Plymouth, Massachusetts, was loaned by the Royals to the Falcons last Friday. He played in the 6-0 loss for the Falcons to the Providence Bruins on Sunday. That marked the second AHL stint of the season for Ewing, who began this year with the Rockford IceHogs, where he scored a goal and picked up an assist in nine games. Ewing, who was signed by the Royals on January 14, 2010, after he was released from his contract with Rockford, has picked up eight points (3g-5a) in six games with Reading. Prior to joining the Royals, Ewing racked up twenty-one points (8g-13a) in twenty-six games with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Hand (6'1/180) (24), a second year pro from Ottawa, Ontario, picked up one assist and forty-seven penalty minutes in twelve games with the Utah Grizzlies this season.

The Royals are off until Friday night (February 5, 2010 @ 7:00 pm) when the team travels to the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey, where they'll face the Trenton Devils for the ninth time this season. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 6:30 pm.
