Idaho's Derlago Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mark Derlago of the Idaho Steelheads is the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 25-31.

The 24 year old scored eight points (3g-5a) and had a plus-minus rating of +3 over three games to help Idaho improve to 30-11-2 and remain atop the National Conference standings. Derlago tied his career best with four assists in a 6-3 win at Bakersfield on Jan. 29 and had two power-play goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 win at Bakersfield on Jan. 30.

He leads the Steelheads with 27 assists and is second in goals (17) and points (44) and is currently riding a nine-game point streak (8g-15a) that began on Jan. 8 when he registered two assists in a 5-2 loss at Victoria. Derlago has tallied two-or-more points in all but one game during his current streak.

The Brandon, Manitoba native has played in the ECHL in each of his first three professional seasons and has 178 points (88g-90a) and 128 penalty minutes in 149 regular season games with Bakersfield and Idaho. Derlago also has 15 points (8g-7a) and eight penalty minutes in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Bakersfield. He has also appeared in 30 American Hockey League games amassing 15 points (7g-8a) and 10 penalty minutes with Manitoba and Providence.

On behalf of Mark Derlago, a case of pucks will be donated to an Idaho youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
