Salmon Kings Receive Siddall From Atlanta

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that forward Matt Siddall (sih-DAWL) has been reassigned by the Atlanta Thrashers to Victoria in exchange for future considerations to be given to the Gwinnet Gladiators.

Siddall, a native of North Vancouver, BC, has played in 31 games this season with Gwinnett where he has registered 28 points (14g-14a) and 90 minutes in penalties.

The 6-1, 205 lb. Siddall spent last year, his rookie professional season, split between the Gladiators and the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves. The majority of his season was spent in Gwinnett where he accumulated 37 points (17g-20a) and 153 penalty minutes over 40 games. He also dressed for two of Gwinnett's Kelly Cup Playoff games this past spring where he amassed one assist and six penalty minutes. Siddall also played 20 games in the AHL with the Wolves where he scored one assist and served 19 minutes in penalties.

For his two-year professional career, Siddall has scored 31 goals and assisted on 45 others for 76 points in 91 games while tallying 262 penalty minutes.

The 25-year-old is under NHL contract to the Atlanta Thrashers, after being drafted by the club in the ninth round (270th overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Siddall played four seasons of junior hockey in the NCAA with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats where he totaled 76 points (32g-44a) and 357 penalty minutes in 147 games played. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team as a member of the Wildcats at the 2008 Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Tournament. Also in 2008, Siddall won the Dennis Siblisky Memorial Senior Award as the program's top senior player.

Before joining the Wildcats, Siddall spent two seasons (2002-03 and 2003-04) in the BCHL with the Langley Chiefs and Powell River Kings, respectively, where he totaled scored 111 points (47g-64a) in 102 games played while gathering 325 penalty minutes

The Salmon Kings welcome the Utah Grizzlies to Victoria for a three-game set this week with matches on Wednesday, February 3rd, Friday, February 5th, and Saturday, February 6th.
