The Situation
The Grizzlies return from their season-long nine-game road trip after going 6-2-0-1 and collecting 13 of 18 standings points for a .722 winning percentage through Bakersfield, Boise, Las Vegas, Ontario, Colorado and Stockton. Utah concluded the trip at 4-2-0-1, playing seven games in 11 nights in five cities.
On The Trip
On the trip, Utah won three of the six games when coming from behind, went 3-1 in shootouts during an eight-day span, didn't allow more than three goals once and went 10-44 on the power-play for a 22-percent conversion rate.
Back Home
The Grizzlies return to Maverik Center this week for the first time since January 29 where they will put their all-time home unbeaten streak on the line against rival Idaho. Utah is 8-0-1-2 in their last 11 home games with their last regulation loss at Maverik Center coming on December 7.
In Goal
Igor Bobkov and Aaron Dell have split the last ten starts in goal for the Grizzlies as each goaltender has continued to dazzle. Dell ranks third in the ECHL in goals-against-average at 2.01 and with a 14-5-0-2 record and a .924 save percentage. Bobkov ranks sixth in goals-against-average and fourth among active players at 2.14 with an 8-4-2-2 record and a .921 save percentage.
Head-To-Head Action
For the second time this year, the Grizzlies will play four games in six nights against regional rival Idaho. Utah at 24-18-3-5 with 56 points, trails the Steelheads by one point in the standings with Idaho at 26-17-2-3 and 57 points. Utah and Idaho are currently in the fourth and fifth spot in the Western Conference and would be first round opponents if the playoffs started today. The two teams will meet seven more times, including this week; with six of the contests being played in Utah where the Grizzlies are 2-0-1-0 against the Steelheads this season.
Road Trip Finale
Saturday's 1-0 loss to Stockton was just Utah's fourth regulation loss in Utah's last 26 games as they have gone 17-4-2-3 since Christmas.
Individual Road Trip Wrap Up
13 different Grizzlies recorded at least a point during the Grizzlies recently completed nine-game road trip. Phil Mangan led the way with three goals and eight assists. The goal scoring was even across the board with Jamie MacQueen and Mathieu Aubin leading the team on the trip with four goals. Mangan, David Vallorani, Vinny Scarsella and Michael Pelech all scored three goals over the nine-game stretch.
For The Record
Friday's game in Colorado marked the first time in 674 all-time ECHL games that the Grizzlies did not draw a power-play goal in a game. Colorado, by not committing a minor penalty in the contest, very cleverly kept the Grizzlies from scoring a power-play goal in a season-high nine-straight games.
