Florida Everblades News Release
North Charleston, SC - Trevor Cann stopped all 29 shots sent his way and got a third-period lift from his offense as the Florida Everblades pulled away for a 3-0 shutout of the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum Sunday.
With the game scoreless after one, Philip-Michael Devos got the Blades on the board 2:15 into the second, burying a bad-angle wrist shot through the legs of league-leading goalie Jeff Jakaitis to boost the visitors to a 1-0 lead.
A.J. Jenks doubled that edge to 2-0 with 8:49 left in regulation, blasting home a back-door pass from Mathieu Roy for his first goal since being returned from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.
A mere 35 seconds later, Trevor Bruess delivered the knockout blow for the Everblades, redirecting a centering pass from Kyle Bonis home to make it 3-0 against his former team.
Cann made that lead stand up-with a little help from the iron as South Carolina's Dale Mitchell rang the post with five seconds left in the game-to post his third shutout of the year and second against the Stingrays.
Jakaitis made 25 stops but couldn't outduel Cann on home ice.
The Blades return home to Germain Arena on Wednesday to open up a three-game home set against the North Division's Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30pm.
Tickets are now on sale at the Capital Bank Box Office, open 10:00am-6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
