ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (32-13-2-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, lost to the Alaska Aces (32-12-2-1) 6-2 before a sellout crowd of 9,584 on Saturday night.

At 8:27, Matt White threaded the needle with a pass across the Aces zone to an incoming Gasper Kopitar who ripped a shot past the glove of Gerald Coleman to give the Reign a 1-0 lead. Cameron Burt picked up the other assist. The Aces scored to tie it up 1-1 at 15:49 with a shot from the high slot off the stick of Andy Taranto.

At 1:52 the Aces took a 2-1 lead with a backhanded shot from Brett Findlay. Moments later at 2:16, Taranto scored his second of the night beating Jussi Olkinuora glove-side. On their first power play of the night, the Reign came within one goal of the Aces as Cameron Burt one-timed a pass in front of the Alaska cage from Maxim Kitsyn at 11:51. Tyler Gron also picked up an assist on the goal.

Alaska took a 4-2 lead at the 5:28 mark of the third period when Peter Sivak banged in a shot from the top of the crease just seconds after the Aces went back to full strength. The Aces extended the lead at 8:03 when Nick Mazzolini skidded a shot past Olkinuora. Another quick Aces goal from Taranto completed his Hat Trick for the night at 18:03 and ended the game with a 6-2 score.
