Grizzlies Fall Before Season-High Crowd At E-Center

April 3, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 3-0 Friday night at the E-Center before a season-high crowd of 6,866 fans on MDA night as the team wore Harley-Davidson jerseys.

$16,825 was raised after the game following the team's post-game jersey auction with all the proceeds go back to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Alaska win and Idaho's 3-2 loss to Phoenix clinches the West Division for the Aces and solidifies a first-round playoff pairing between Utah and Alaska for the second time in four years. The series will start Friday, April 10 in Alaska.

The Aces jumped up 1-0 in the first period on a Scott Burt goal scored on an odd-man rush. Alaska added two power-play goals in the first 3:26 of the second period and that would make it 3-0.

Robert Gherson stopped 29 of 32 shots in the game in a losing cause.

The Grizzlies complete the regular season Saturday hosting Alaska once again at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
