Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, Idaho - A day after goaltender Rejean Beauchemin is called up to the American Hockey League, and with the division and conference title possibly on the line, Idaho's number one netminder Matt Climie is recalled to the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars.

Climie, who is under contract with the Stars, may get the start in Saturday's contest against the St. Louis Blues and former Steelheads Kelly Cup Champion B.J. Crombeen (who has been nominated for the 2009 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, given to the player who exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship in the NHL).

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Alberta native is playing his first professional season with the Steelheads and has a 27-12-1 record, for a league-leading 2.30 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage with four shutouts. Climie was also named the RBK ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 23-29, 2009 after posting back-to-back shutouts versus ONT and received the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for December '08; going 5-1-0 with a 2.31 GAA and a .920 SV% for the month.

Climie, 26, attended Dallas Stars (NHL) Training Camp, and appeared in preseason action starting a game versus Colorado, and coached by Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal, he was 2-0 for the Dallas Stars at the 2008 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, MI as Dallas won the tournament.

Two rookies will be in net for the Steelheads tonight and Saturday - Kurtis Mucha [Moo-cha] and Andrew Pate [Pait].

Mucha, 20, has played the past four seasons for the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks, and during the 2008-09 season posted a 13-29-4 record, with a 3.95 GAA and .891 SV%. Tonight's start will be the first professional game for the 6-foot-2, 185-pound rookie. He's expected to land in Boise at 6:05 pm for the 7:10 pm puck drop.

The Spokane-born Pate, plays at Eastern Washington University and teaches at goaltending camps and clinics. After winning two state championships in Spokane, he went on to play three seasons of junior hockey in Port Alberni, British Columbia and one in Spokane. Andy has also played two years of college at MVCC in Utica, New York and one year at Utica College.

Both the Climie and Beauchemin call ups are not anticipated to be long, and Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal said he expects to get both goaltenders back in time for the Steelheads Kelly Cup Championship run.

Idaho has two regular season games remaining on home ice this weekend against Phoenix. The team begins its quest for a third ECHL Kelly Cup on Saturday, Apr. 11 at Qwest Arena. The seeding order and the Steelheads' opponent for the National Conference, West Division's first round of postseason play is still to be determined.

* End of season team awards will be presented during a pregame ceremony on Saturday.
