Bombers Deny Nailers Chance To Clinch Playoff Spot Winning 3-2

WHEELING, WV -- The Dayton Bombers keep Wheeling from clinching a playoff spot with a 3-2 win Friday night at WesBanco Arena.

The Bombers got on the board first at 4:24 of the first with Les Reaney's 14th goal of the season, assisted by Andrew Fournier and Jim Henkemeyer. It was 1-0 after one.

After a scoreless second, Brock Wilson gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead on a power play goal at 6:39 of the third with assists to Reaney and Matt Auffrey. Just 35 seconds later, Billy Ryan would put Wheeling on the board to make it 2-1. Andrew Fournier would score what proved to be the winning goal at 14:02 (assisted by Reaney and Auffrey) to make it 3-1. The Nailers would close the gap to 3-2 on a Jordan Morrison power play tally at 15:23. Dayton then withstood a late penalty and an extra attacker to hold on to win.

Dayton goalie Paul Drew saved 34 of 36 for the win.

The Bombers end up 9-3-0-2 against Wheeling for the season.

Dayton closes out the season at Reading Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on the B2 Networks.
